Shokusha:

The origins of the Shokusha are quite vague, they are a rather new race with many of the first generation having survived. Even talking to these elders has shown little light on their origin, for the most part the elders have described living around some massive metal structures deep in the ocean before some sort of catalyst seemed to grant their people sentience. Since then small herds have been roaming the world searching for a new home and finally it looks like they might have one in this strange world. They look rather similar to regular squids having tentacles and the like with a few exceptions, they are substantially larger then the smaller squids that are in the ocean with some growing to be larger then people. They also have developed a number of abilities useful in this new area, they are able to survive outside water even if they much prefer the depths of the ocean and to communicate they have a magical ability to communicate with creatures near them as if they were in their head.
