Very little of their actual skin is visible, as they are covered in mud, sticks and leaves and all wear a mask made out of bark over their faces. Many speculate that their near-constant hunger and unnatural thinness are two facets of the same coin with Maskays being simply naturally “high maintenance”. While the youngest or most magically dull members of the species might have inert masks, a common magical rite of passage across Maskay cultures is awakening the mask so it starts following your own face’s movement, with the complexities in its mimicry of organic movement and of its design and ornaments being a signifier of both magical aptitude and status amongst the Maskays. Maskays keep silent unless something absolutely needs words to be communicated, seemingly as a sort of protection against the more keen of hearing predators that once chased them through the forests. As such, being able to express as much as possible without saying a single word is highly appreciated amongst Maskay societies.	None		docrm
