Effect Description:
None → Once per session, before making a contested roll against a target, the wielder of this artifact may declare it a Duel of Measures.
The wielder chooses one attribute, another is chosen randomly, both wielder and target add these attributes to the contested roll. Additionally the wielder gains a +4 to their roll.
This activation cannot be secret. The target is immediately aware of:
the contested action,
the wielder’s intent,
and that the Duelist’s Gavel has been activated.
If the wielder wins, they gain a minor boon related to the nature of the contest in addition to winning the contested action. If the target wins, they gain +2 against the wielder and cannot have this artifact used against them until the end of the age.
